AKA: Charnock William Self

William was the son of John Preston Self and Sarah Susan Martin, who were married on 24 January 1838 in Woodsen Morgan County, Illinois. John was born around 1820 in Fayette County Kentucky and died on 14 September 1844 in Morgan County, Illinois. He is reportedly buried in Phillips Cemetery, which is located in a farm. Sarah was born around 1822.

William had one known sibling; a sister; Mary Jane Self, # 131863449, who married Samuel Webster Black on 2 December 1860 in Morgan Co. Illinois. Died in 1888.

2) Mary Jane Black on 4 November 1868 in Illinois. She was a sister to William's sister's husband, Samuel Black.
