She was born Jan. 1, 1929 in Lebanon, Mo. to Robert and Leona Barber.
On May 1, 1948 she married William Glen Dowdy, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and six brothers.
Survivors include six daughters, Glenda Richardson, of Lebanon; Janet Stansbury and husband, Tim, of Kansas City; Ruth Huntley and husband, Doug, of Nevada, Mo.; Karen Winslow and husband, Don, of Independence; Becky Smith, of Independence; Sandy Drury and husband, Ray, of Bosworth; Chris Dowdy and John Dowdy, both of Dover, and Bill Dowdy and wife, Phyllis, of Stover; 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Angst and husband, Lester, of Lebanon; a brother, Forrest Barber and wife, Kathy, of Cross Timbers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ethel Farhmeier will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Warrensburg, under the direction of Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home of Lexington.
