SAMUEL BLAIR son of John and Marcy Hayward Blair, was born 24 August 1752, and died 30 November 1831 age 79. (Warren V. Rec.) He married 9 June 1775 in Brookfield, MA to Anna Brown of Western, the daughter of James Brown, Sr. Anna died 14 September 1837, age 84.
Samuel and Anna were admitted as Members of the Congregational Church of Warren at its founding, by Covenant in 1791.
Like the other townsmen Samuel was a determined adherent of the patriotic party. He enlisted in the company which was raised at Western, under Captain Reuben Reed and which went on April 20, 1775, as a company of Minute men to Roxbury, in the regiment of which Jonathan Warner was Colonel. In 1782, when Samuel was recorded as a church warden, he was styled "Lieutenant Blair". From this time always held some town office, was selectman, moderator, town treasurer and representative.
