Heinrich Friedrich Behrens emigrated from Germany, arriving Port of New York July 29, 1904, on the S.S. Pennsylvania. He immigrated with his wife Anna and six children. The youngest was Ernest, age 8/12 months. They joined Heinrich's brother-in-law August Timm in the Davenport, Harrington, Lincoln Co., WA., area. They had two daughters born in Lincoln Co., WA. In about 1907 he filed for a homestead near Eltopia, Franklin Co., WA., declaring his intention to become a US Citizen that same year. According to a church obituary, he suferred from lung disease, died Aug. 22, 1911 on the Eltopia WA. homestead farm. It appears he had not yet become a US Citizen. He was buried at Eltopia Cemetery, Eltopia, Franklin, WA. His wife Anna Petitioned for US Citizenship in Sept. 1912, and granted Dec. 1912. She finished proving up the 160 acre homestead which was approved October 20, 1913, under the name "Anna Behrens, Widow of Heinrich Behrens". She was approved for a 2nd homestead near Eltopia in 1917, under the name "Anna Owens, formerly Anna Behrens".
