Fred married Lena Christine Theurer on June 16, 1935 in Elgin, North Dakota. They had four children: Harold; Betty; Willis; and Luella.
OBITUARY
The funeral for Fred Schaible, 94, Park River, N.D., formerly of Oriska, will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 1003, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oriska. Rev. Jerry Carlson will officiate and burial will be in Memory Gardens near Valley 3ity later in the spring. He died Thursday evening, March 20, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center, Park River. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, and will continue one hour prior to services in the church.
Frederick Schaible, Jr. was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Willa, N.D., the son of Frederick Sr. and Margaret (Heyne) Schaible. In his early years they moved to Elgin where he attended school. On June 16, 1935, he married Lena Christine Theurer in Elgin. They spent the early years of their marriage fanning at Heil and he also worked in the coal mines in that area. They moved from Heil in the spring of 1938 to farm north of Valley City and then moved to Oriska in 1941. He owned the Oriska Salvage Yard and also was a substitute rural mail carri¬er.
After his retirement in 1977 they moved to Casselton. Fred enjoyed making minia¬ture farms, water pumps, and steam engines. Fred and Lena moved to Borg Pioneer Home in Mountain in October of 1998. In June of 2001 they moved to Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Lena died Aug. 15, 2001 and Fred moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River in April of 2002.
Survivors are his children, Harold (Delila) Schaible, Minneapolis, Minn.; Betty (Bruce) Hanson, Park River; Willis Schaible, Sheridan, Wyo.; and Luella Joslyn; nine grand¬children; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Shelly, Clearlake, California; a sister-in-law, Krystal Schaible, Breckenridge, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, William, Walter, and Gerhardt; and sisters, Mathilda, Bertha, Clara, Rosina, and Freda.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, Oriska. Funeral arrangements are by Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.
