George was born in St. Paul to George and Augustina (VanHorn) Workman on Aug. 8, 1951. He went to school and graduated from Pine City High School. George was a man of many talents; he could build anything for his home, motorcycle, car or truck. He was most recently converting his motorcycle to a three-wheeler so he could continue riding while he was handicapped. He loved hunting and spending time at home with family and friends as well as going out to breakfast with friends and family at the Rock Creek Truck Stop.

George graduated from Pine Technical College and in 1980 opened Sonny's Auto Body Shop. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy on the USS ROGER. He received a commendation for outstanding performance of duty while assigned to the USS ROGER during combat operations against the enemy. He was involved in Hustletown Community Church, was on the State of Minnesota fire warden commission and a long time supporter of veteran organizations.

He is survived by his wife Vicky and their children: Daniel Workman, William (Becky) Dodd, Danny "Clay" Jones and Kayla Workman-Mettler; his grandchildren: Magdalena, Lubet, Aurora, Danny Jr. and Memphis George. He is also survived by sisters: Patricia (Steve) Born, Peggy (Steve) Kosel, Priscila (Gregory) Schneider and Joan (Myron) Haug.
