Versatile race car driver who was a 3-time veteran of the Indianapolis 500. He married Mari Hulman and became the son-in-law of then Indianapolis Speedway president Anton "Tony" Hulman, Jr. Their son, Anton "Tony" Hulman George, later became Speedway president and an innovator who established the Indy Racing League (IRL). He also expanded Speedway events to include NASCAR's "Brickyard 400" race and Formula One's United States Grand Prix.
