Born April 28, 1917, in Binghamton, he was the son of Harry and Ivelee Swan Thorp. He had been a resident of this area most of his life, and was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by Smith-Corona Marchant of Syracuse.
Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Wilma Barber Thorp of Cortland; four daughters: Mrs. Marie Wells of Cortland, Mrs. Janet Slate of Lakey, Va., and Miss Marcia and Paulette Thorp of Cortland; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Richard A. DeMott officiating, at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
