Born on October 28, 1919 in Ashbyburg, Kentucky, Bill was the son of the late Forest Carlisle and the late Dollie Tomlinson Carlisle.
Bill served in the United States Army, First Infantry Division during World War II. He was a decorated veteran having received the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was an avid bowler and loved raising roses, which he often shared with friends.
Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Jeryln Erickson and brothers, Elmo, Edward and Chester Carlisle.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. Rev. Matt McGowen and Rev. Lee Koontz will be officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, 800 S. Enota Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30501, in Bill's honor.
