Charles Arthur Sutch, a life-long resident of New Bloomfield, died suddenly last Wednesday in his sleep, while taking an after dinner nap in the parlor of his home at 47 West McClure Street, New Bloomfield. He was 73 years old.
Born in 1880, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Sutch, he began working at the old New Bloomfield Livery Stable at an early age. In 1924, he was employed by Carson Long Institute here, where he worked as a painter, an interior decorator, as well as stationary fireman for the next 28 years. He has been retired since September, 1952. He has lived in the same home since his birth. He was a life-long member of the New Bloomfield Methodist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Saylor of West McClure St., and Mrs. Milton Arnold, of West Barnett in New Bloomfield and Mrs. Jesse Brown, of Millerstown R. D. 1; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Yarnall of West Fairview, and Mrs. Jennie Shoemaker of Washington, D. C.; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p. m. from the funeral home in West Main St., New Bloomfield with the Rev. Clarence F. Johnston, of the New Bloomfield Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in New Bloomfield Cemetery.
