Nov. 4, 1931 - Jan. 15, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Charlotte Goodwin Krouse, 82, loving mother and brilliant musician, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Md. Charlotte was born on Nov. 4, 1931, in Washington, D.C., to George W. Goodwin Jr. and Ethel Smith Goodwin. She attended University of Maryland, College Park and received a BA in English. Charlotte married Navy Lt. Philip Carlyle Krouse on May 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1997. She is a former resident of South Bend, Ind., Franklin, Va., and Laurel, Md. Charlotte was a singer, pianist and organist, and her love of music was a gift to all. Prior to her retirement in 2002, she was the choir director and organist at the Franklin Congregational Christian Church of Franklin. Charlotte is survived by three children, Ian Krouse of West Hills, Calif., Kevin Krouse (Faye Krouse) of Shenzhen, China, and Elizabeth Krouse Toibero (Dennis Toibero) of Laurel; eight grandchildren, Ryan Krouse, Eryn Krouse and Arlen Krouse of West Hills, Nathaniel Krouse (Alicia Krouse) of Mishawaka, Ind., and Denise Toibero, Anthony Toibero, Melina Toibero and Samantha Toibero of Laurel; one niece, Lona Goodwin Sheetz; and one nephew, Marc Goodwin. The funeral will take place at 10:15 am Wednesday, March 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 11795 Scaggsville Rd. in Fulton, Md. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heifer International, or to a charity of choice .
