Linda Sue Reed Galyean, 72, of Lynchburg, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. She was the wife of Jerry Galyean for 55 years. Born Sunday, March 29, 1942, in Rogersville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Warren Reed and Sarah Tate Reed. She was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church. She lived her life as a good Christian, giving and caring for others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Gay Galyean Thornsbury and husband, David, of Boonville, N.C., and Dr. Teresa A Galyean and husband, Byron Stanbery, of Hillsville; grandchildren, Amanda P. Stanbery of Charlotte, N.C., and Cullen W. Stanbery of Hillsville; two brothers, Richard Reed and John "Al" Reed, both of Lynchburg; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Pickett of Bluefield, W.Va., Joan Tolley of Pamplin; a brother-in-law, Andrew "Buddy" Galyean of Henry; devoted nieces, Kim and Katie Collurafici of Pamplin; a special friend, "the other Linda" Caplinger; and a host of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Janice Privette for her caregiving. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel, Lynchburg with the Rev. Dr. J. Monty Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
