CAMBRIDGE -- Janet A. Cummings, 76, a resident of Cambridge, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Nursing and Rehab Center of Hoosick Falls.

Born Aug. 27, 1935, in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Gifford and Margaret Benson McKernon and attended Mildred Elly School in Albany.

Mrs. Cummings was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Cambridge, where she was a member of the church council and headed the church's strawberry festival for many years.

She was part owner of the IGA with her husband, worked as a playground aide and in the nursing office at Mary McClellan Hospital for many years, but the job she most took pride in was being a full-time housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and watching her sons playing sports in school.

Survivors include her husband, Donald A. Cummings of Cambridge; three sons, Richard Cummings of Lake Placid, James (Sandy) Cummings of Doylestown, Pa., and Dr. John (Stacy) Cummings of Glen Mills, Pa.; and six grandchildren: Erin, Jessica, Katie, Elise, Matthew and Devin Cummings.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at St. Patrick's Church in Cambridge with the Rev. James Walsh officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, N.Y.

Memorials can be made in her memory to the Nursing and Rehab Center of Hoosick Falls or Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad
