She was born June 4, 1925 in Monroe County, OH, a daughter of the late Homer and Beatrice (Mathess) Landefeld.
She was a retired nurse for the Yorkville and Martins Ferry Plants of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and also East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
Juanita was a member of the Church of Christ, Wheeling, WV, Buckeye South Band Parents and the Martins Ferry Nursing School Alumni Association. She was also a former Girl Scout leader,
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Holmes; and a brother, Paul Landefeld.
Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Clinton) Robson of Rayland, OH; nieces, Barbara (Larry) Peck, Deborah (Ron) Owens and Nancy (Jim) Connelly; nephew, Mark (Barb) Landefeld; several great and great-great-nieces; and nephews and cousins; and her beloved cats, Max, Booties and Kitty Yeller.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Valley Hospice and friends Alice, Violet, Roberta, Doris, Melissa and hospice volunteer Michelle.
Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Friday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 22, 2014, noon until time of the service at 1 p.m. with Ministers Ron Stullenbarger and John Wright officiating.
Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.
