Ima Jean Smith, 71, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Nova Health and Rehab, Weber City, VA.
Mrs. Smith was born in Scott County, VA on June 22, 1942 to Lois Babb and the late Claude Babb.
In addition to her father, her husband, Elisha Chester Smith (2013); brother, Willie Glen Babb; and brother-in-law, Farrell Swanner preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Delano and Dean Frye; grandson, Michael Delano and wife, Dianne, mother, Lois Babb; step-sons, James Smith and wife, Eulene, Lester Smith and wife, Betty, and A.M. Smith and wife, Shirley; great grandchildren, Amiya and Micah Delano; Denise McClain and Nichole Lane, who she thought of as grandchildren; sisters, Helen Jones and husband, Harold, Mary Houseright and husband, Kelcie, and Brenda Swanner; brothers, Jimmy Babb and wife, Helen, Bennie Babb and wife, Judy, and Denny "Tommy" Babb and wife, Cheryl; brother-in-law , Emmitt Smith and wife, Brenda; sister-in-law, Betty Lane and husband, Bill; special friends, Rita Keith and Faye and Jim Delano; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 in the Juanita S. Falin Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Dean Frye. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G. W. White and Rev. Kenneth Kiser officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Bill Lane, Emmitt Smith, James Smith, and Jeff Houseright will serve as honorary pallbearers.
