ASHTABULA — Ashtabula Harbor resident Muriel A. "Susie" Lloyd, age 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Eric and Ruby (Irish) Ericksen. After graduation from Rowe High School in 1943, she entered the Cleveland Training School for Nurses and enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Corps, during World War II. She graduated in the Class of 1946.
She began her nursing career at Brown Memorial Hospital, where she met the love of her life Donald Lloyd. They were married Oct. 18, 1947. Susie later became the Health Nurse for the City of Ashtabula and completed her career as an industrial nurse with RMI.
Mrs. Lloyd was a Girl Scout leader for her children; a member of the Huron Road Hospital Alumni Association; and also a member of the Daughters of American Colonists. Susie was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and enjoyed researching her family through genealogy. She was a history buff, an avid reader and letter writer, and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.
She especially loved the Ashtabula Harbor and the many highlight points of the area including the lift bridge, the lighthouse, the Marine Museum and the natural beauty of the lake, but most of all Susie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Her survivors include three daughters, Linda Lloyd and her husband, Brian Cochran, of Erie, Pa., Patricia Shells of Ashtabula and Pamela Pratt of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew Watts and wife Sherry, Eric Watts and spouse Jeff Platz, Kyle Simon, Brittany Simon and fiancé Rob Hencken, and Erin Shells and fiancé Jason Morvan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Watts, Kylee Simon, and Selena and Xavier Vera.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Lloyd on July 5, 2004; her sons-in-law, Garry Shells and Gary Pratt; brothers, H. Kent and John Ericksen; and her parents.
A Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21st, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey, officiating.
Calling Hours will be from to 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Huron Road Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, in care of the Funeral Home, the Ashtabula Maritime Museum, P.O. Box 1546, Ashtabula, Ohio or Silver Sands shared residence, 3418 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.

ASHTABULA – Lifetime Ashtabula Harbor resident Donald C. Lloyd, 82, died Monday, July 05, 2004 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 1, 1922, the son of Charles John and Marie Rose (Parnell) Lloyd and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1940 graduate of Harbor High School, he started as a fireman for the City of Ashtabula alongside his father before retiring after 27 years of service.
He worked numerous other jobs during his time as a fireman, but following his retirement, he worked 10 years for Interlake Steamship.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II.
Mr. Lloyd was a founding member of the Marine Corps League, a member of the VFW Post #943, and a life-member of the American Legion, Dewy-Howlett Post #103.
Proclaimed by his daughters as the "Harbor Goodwill Ambassador", he loved to visit Point Park regularly and share his wealth of knowledge with his family on whatever projects they were working on. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
His survivors include his wife, Muriel "Susie" (Ericksen) whom he married October 18, 1947; three daughters, Linda Lloyd of Erie, PA, Patricia Shells of Ashtabula, and Pamela Simon of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew (wife Sherry) and Eric Watts, Kyle (wife Amanda) and Brittany Simon, and Erin Shells; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gallagher of Mogadore, OH.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul "Chick" Lloyd and David G. Lloyd; one sister, Patricia A. Kienholz, his son-in-law, Garry Shells; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1514 West 6th Street, Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
Contributions may be made to Mother of Sorrows Church, Harbor Lights Hospice, or a charity of choice.

ASHTABULA — Ashtabula Harbor resident Muriel A. "Susie" Lloyd, age 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Eric and Ruby (Irish) Ericksen. After graduation from Rowe High School in 1943, she entered the Cleveland Training School for Nurses and enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Corps, during World War II. She graduated in the Class of 1946.
She began her nursing career at Brown Memorial Hospital, where she met the love of her life Donald Lloyd. They were married Oct. 18, 1947. Susie later became the Health Nurse for the City of Ashtabula and completed her career as an industrial nurse with RMI.
Mrs. Lloyd was a Girl Scout leader for her children; a member of the Huron Road Hospital Alumni Association; and also a member of the Daughters of American Colonists. Susie was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and enjoyed researching her family through genealogy. She was a history buff, an avid reader and letter writer, and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.
She especially loved the Ashtabula Harbor and the many highlight points of the area including the lift bridge, the lighthouse, the Marine Museum and the natural beauty of the lake, but most of all Susie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Her survivors include three daughters, Linda Lloyd and her husband, Brian Cochran, of Erie, Pa., Patricia Shells of Ashtabula and Pamela Pratt of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew Watts and wife Sherry, Eric Watts and spouse Jeff Platz, Kyle Simon, Brittany Simon and fiancé Rob Hencken, and Erin Shells and fiancé Jason Morvan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Watts, Kylee Simon, and Selena and Xavier Vera.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Lloyd on July 5, 2004; her sons-in-law, Garry Shells and Gary Pratt; brothers, H. Kent and John Ericksen; and her parents.
A Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21st, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey, officiating.
Calling Hours will be from to 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

ASHTABULA – Lifetime Ashtabula Harbor resident Donald C. Lloyd, 82, died Monday, July 05, 2004 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 1, 1922, the son of Charles John and Marie Rose (Parnell) Lloyd and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1940 graduate of Harbor High School, he started as a fireman for the City of Ashtabula alongside his father before retiring after 27 years of service.
He worked numerous other jobs during his time as a fireman, but following his retirement, he worked 10 years for Interlake Steamship.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II.
Mr. Lloyd was a founding member of the Marine Corps League, a member of the VFW Post #943, and a life-member of the American Legion, Dewy-Howlett Post #103.
Proclaimed by his daughters as the "Harbor Goodwill Ambassador", he loved to visit Point Park regularly and share his wealth of knowledge with his family on whatever projects they were working on. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
His survivors include his wife, Muriel "Susie" (Ericksen) whom he married October 18, 1947; three daughters, Linda Lloyd of Erie, PA, Patricia Shells of Ashtabula, and Pamela Simon of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew (wife Sherry) and Eric Watts, Kyle (wife Amanda) and Brittany Simon, and Erin Shells; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gallagher of Mogadore, OH.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul "Chick" Lloyd and David G. Lloyd; one sister, Patricia A. Kienholz, his son-in-law, Garry Shells; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1514 West 6th Street, Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.

ASHTABULA — Ashtabula Harbor resident Muriel A. "Susie" Lloyd, age 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Eric and Ruby (Irish) Ericksen. After graduation from Rowe High School in 1943, she entered the Cleveland Training School for Nurses and enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Corps, during World War II. She graduated in the Class of 1946.
She began her nursing career at Brown Memorial Hospital, where she met the love of her life Donald Lloyd. They were married Oct. 18, 1947. Susie later became the Health Nurse for the City of Ashtabula and completed her career as an industrial nurse with RMI.
Mrs. Lloyd was a Girl Scout leader for her children; a member of the Huron Road Hospital Alumni Association; and also a member of the Daughters of American Colonists. Susie was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and enjoyed researching her family through genealogy. She was a history buff, an avid reader and letter writer, and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.
She especially loved the Ashtabula Harbor and the many highlight points of the area including the lift bridge, the lighthouse, the Marine Museum and the natural beauty of the lake, but most of all Susie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Her survivors include three daughters, Linda Lloyd and her husband, Brian Cochran, of Erie, Pa., Patricia Shells of Ashtabula and Pamela Pratt of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew Watts and wife Sherry, Eric Watts and spouse Jeff Platz, Kyle Simon, Brittany Simon and fiancé Rob Hencken, and Erin Shells and fiancé Jason Morvan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Watts, Kylee Simon, and Selena and Xavier Vera.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Lloyd on July 5, 2004; her sons-in-law, Garry Shells and Gary Pratt; brothers, H. Kent and John Ericksen; and her parents.
A Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21st, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey, officiating.
Calling Hours will be from to 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Huron Road Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, in care of the Funeral Home, the Ashtabula Maritime Museum, P.O. Box 1546, Ashtabula, Ohio or Silver Sands shared residence, 3418 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.

ASHTABULA – Lifetime Ashtabula Harbor resident Donald C. Lloyd, 82, died Monday, July 05, 2004 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 1, 1922, the son of Charles John and Marie Rose (Parnell) Lloyd and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1940 graduate of Harbor High School, he started as a fireman for the City of Ashtabula alongside his father before retiring after 27 years of service.
He worked numerous other jobs during his time as a fireman, but following his retirement, he worked 10 years for Interlake Steamship.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II.
Mr. Lloyd was a founding member of the Marine Corps League, a member of the VFW Post #943, and a life-member of the American Legion, Dewy-Howlett Post #103.
Proclaimed by his daughters as the "Harbor Goodwill Ambassador", he loved to visit Point Park regularly and share his wealth of knowledge with his family on whatever projects they were working on. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
His survivors include his wife, Muriel "Susie" (Ericksen) whom he married October 18, 1947; three daughters, Linda Lloyd of Erie, PA, Patricia Shells of Ashtabula, and Pamela Simon of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew (wife Sherry) and Eric Watts, Kyle (wife Amanda) and Brittany Simon, and Erin Shells; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gallagher of Mogadore, OH.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul "Chick" Lloyd and David G. Lloyd; one sister, Patricia A. Kienholz, his son-in-law, Garry Shells; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1514 West 6th Street, Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
Contributions may be made to Mother of Sorrows Church, Harbor Lights Hospice, or a charity of choice.

ASHTABULA — Ashtabula Harbor resident Muriel A. "Susie" Lloyd, age 88, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Eric and Ruby (Irish) Ericksen. After graduation from Rowe High School in 1943, she entered the Cleveland Training School for Nurses and enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Corps, during World War II. She graduated in the Class of 1946.
She began her nursing career at Brown Memorial Hospital, where she met the love of her life Donald Lloyd. They were married Oct. 18, 1947. Susie later became the Health Nurse for the City of Ashtabula and completed her career as an industrial nurse with RMI.
Mrs. Lloyd was a Girl Scout leader for her children; a member of the Huron Road Hospital Alumni Association; and also a member of the Daughters of American Colonists. Susie was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and enjoyed researching her family through genealogy. She was a history buff, an avid reader and letter writer, and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.
She especially loved the Ashtabula Harbor and the many highlight points of the area including the lift bridge, the lighthouse, the Marine Museum and the natural beauty of the lake, but most of all Susie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Her survivors include three daughters, Linda Lloyd and her husband, Brian Cochran, of Erie, Pa., Patricia Shells of Ashtabula and Pamela Pratt of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew Watts and wife Sherry, Eric Watts and spouse Jeff Platz, Kyle Simon, Brittany Simon and fiancé Rob Hencken, and Erin Shells and fiancé Jason Morvan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Watts, Kylee Simon, and Selena and Xavier Vera.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Lloyd on July 5, 2004; her sons-in-law, Garry Shells and Gary Pratt; brothers, H. Kent and John Ericksen; and her parents.
A Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21st, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey, officiating.
Calling Hours will be from to 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

ASHTABULA – Lifetime Ashtabula Harbor resident Donald C. Lloyd, 82, died Monday, July 05, 2004 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 1, 1922, the son of Charles John and Marie Rose (Parnell) Lloyd and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1940 graduate of Harbor High School, he started as a fireman for the City of Ashtabula alongside his father before retiring after 27 years of service.
He worked numerous other jobs during his time as a fireman, but following his retirement, he worked 10 years for Interlake Steamship.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II.
Mr. Lloyd was a founding member of the Marine Corps League, a member of the VFW Post #943, and a life-member of the American Legion, Dewy-Howlett Post #103.
Proclaimed by his daughters as the "Harbor Goodwill Ambassador", he loved to visit Point Park regularly and share his wealth of knowledge with his family on whatever projects they were working on. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
His survivors include his wife, Muriel "Susie" (Ericksen) whom he married October 18, 1947; three daughters, Linda Lloyd of Erie, PA, Patricia Shells of Ashtabula, and Pamela Simon of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Matthew (wife Sherry) and Eric Watts, Kyle (wife Amanda) and Brittany Simon, and Erin Shells; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gallagher of Mogadore, OH.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul "Chick" Lloyd and David G. Lloyd; one sister, Patricia A. Kienholz, his son-in-law, Garry Shells; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1514 West 6th Street, Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
