Killed in Action: While on duty in the front line trenches at SANCTUARY WOOD, during a heavy enemy bombardment, he was instantly killed by the explosion of an enemy shell. (Canada War Graves Register, Circumstances of Casualty)

Son of the late William Pyne and Mrs. Harriet Eaglestone (formerly Pyne), of 27, Willow St., Coley, Reading, England.

Victor was known as a Barnardo Boy, and came to Canada as part of the child emigration scheme through Dr. Barnardo's Home. He ended up in Kent County, Ontario as did his older brother Howard.
