Birth date based on age 85 in 1850 and she does not appear in the 1860 census.
She was living in the 1850 Census among the household of Levi Cochran:

1850 Census: District 15, Marshall, Tennessee
Family Number: 160

Levi Cochran 50 (Mt. Carmel Cem., Marshall Co.)b. NC
Elizabeth Cochran 47 (Mt. Carmel Cem., Marshall Co.)
Elizabeth J Cochran 17
Hariet F Cochran 15
Margaret J Cochran 12
Mary C. Cochran 9
Levi N Cochran 7
Lora A Cochran 4
Robert O Green 18
Jemima Bivins 85
William McGregor 33
Lucy A McGregor 23
Walter S. McGregor 4
Francis M McGregor 2

This Jemima does not match up to be the d/o Robert & Rachel Crockett of Giles Co., Tn, though many trees have her there. There is a Jemima Crocket who died in Polk Co., MO and is buried in Pleasant Hope Cem., She is the w/o Joseph Jacob Cochran. This Giles Co.,Tn /Polk Co., Mo Jemima is the daughter of Robert & Rachel Kerr Crockett and matches in the lineup of children.

Timeline for the 2 Jemima's

1. The above Jemima:
b. 1763 N.C.
m. John Bivens 1779
1830 living in Wayne Co Tn with son Steven Bivins
1850 living in Marshall Co. with daug Elizabeth J. and son-in-law Levi Cochran. She d. 1853

2. The Jemima Crockett Cochran of Polk Co MO b. 1779 in Mechlenberg Co., N.C.
m. Jacob Cochran in abt 1818 & lived in Giles Co, Tn for a time.
d. 1865 in Polk Co MO. Tombstone says w/o Jacob Cochran

Rachel Kerr, Robert Crockett's wife would have been about 41 when this Jemima was born. Don't think that is an issue because women who had a lot of children tended to be able to continue to bear them later, but who knows.

I [Kathy Overstreet] haven't seen a connection between Jacob Cochran and Levi Cochran.

It is possible these two Jemima's are one in the same, but all the records seem to indicate otherwise. [CWA]

If anyone can prove the heritage of this Jemima (Crockett?) Bevins please E-mail this researcher. Thus far I have not seen absolute proof this Jemima's maiden name was Crockett. I do however have an unproven family tree of her being in Mecklenburg Co. NC at the time when Robert Crockett (maybe a brother) was there. If that is true then she may be from an earlier Crockett generation.

No grave has ever been reported in this cemetery for Jemima Bivins to my knowledge, but due to this cemetery containing fieldstones and sunken graves one cannot dispel that fact.

5. JOHN5 BIVENS* (NATHANIEL * SR.4 BIVENS, WILLIAM3 BIVENS*, ROWLAND JR.2 BEAVENS*, ROWLAND SR.1)17,18 was born May 11, 1760 in Anson County, North Carolina, and died March 11, 1818 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He married JEMIMA * CROCKETT18 September 18, 1779 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was born 1763 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died November 18, 1853 in Lewisburg, Marshall County, Tennessee.

Notes for JOHN BIVENS*:(Cemetery not found in Mechlenburg - Maybe Union Co though.1/14/2014 CWA)
The location of John Bivens final resting place is unknown but I believe it is highly likely he was buried in the Nathaniel Bivens Cemetery on the old farm of W.D. Bivens as were some of the family. His will recorded in 1818 is in North Carolina Will Books Surname A-B WB
A/124 Co. 65 with a copy in my notes.

Notes for JEMIMA * CROCKETT:
Most likely she was buried at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Lewisburg, Tennessee. It is a short distance from where she lived with her daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law Levi Cochran. In 2012 when I visited this cemetery, I was told by the local historian, Don Jeter, of the hillside at the cemetery containing many graves and markers that where lost because no one kept up the cemetery until the county stepped in years ago. He had pictures of the hillside with markers showing but they are now unmarked graves as the cemetery was not kept properly.

She lived with William Stephen Bivens in the 1820's early 30's until he moved further west to Wayne County. She never remarried after John died in 1818 in the Waxhaw, North Carolina area, but moved with the children to Marshall County, Tennessee. It is possible she could be buried in an unmarked grave at Cochran Cemetery which is in the area, but it makes more sense that her daughter Elizabeth and Levi are buried nearby in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with her in the empty spot near their graves. She was born in Virginia or in Mecklenburg,
North Carolina depending on records you see.
