Visitation for George L. Bade, 83, of Maribel, Wis., formerly of Momence, will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, with Masonic services at 7 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, Momence, and from 9 a.m. Saturday untilt he 10 a.m. services at the First United Methodist Church, Momence, where he was a member. The Rev. Jim Ruberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Momence Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Nursing Home, or to Isaiah’s Pantry.
Mr. Bade died Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home, Green Bay, Wis.
Mr. Bade was a vegetable, grain, cattle and hog farmer; equipment and seed salesman. For many years he and his wife owned and operated Bade’s Big Bushel, a vegetable and gift store on their farm.
He was born Feb. 6, 1917 in Momence the son of Walter and Lucy Wetmore Bade.
Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Whetlow, whom he married Dec. 23, 1939 in Momence; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Carol Bade of Frazee, Minn, Donald and Cynthia Bade of Momence; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Marvin Alwes of Delavan, Wis; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Frank Luedtke of Momence; one brother-in-law, Walter Whetlow of Palmyra, Wis; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 30 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He belonged to the Momence Lodge until it closed and then transferred to Peotone Lodge 636.
He was a member of the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Scottish Rite, Valley of Bloomington, and the Order of Eastern Star, Kankakee Chapter 268.
He liked to travel, fish, play cards and go to garage sales and flea markets.
