Information from Little Cedar Lutheran Church, written in 2005:
Wilma was born on October 8, 1925, to William and Rachael Hardecopf, living on a farm near Grand Meadow, MN. She was baptized at her great grandmother Peterson's home in Grand Meadow. Her family later moved to a farm near Dexter, where she started her school years, and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran by Pastor Gaede. The family then moved to a farm near Adams.

Following graduation from Adams High School in 1943, Wilma moved to Adams and rented a room at Ollie Uglum's house while working at Halverson's grocery store. She was married to Selmer (Sally) Weness by Pastor Brevik on June 12, 1945, at the Little Cedar Parsonage. Sally and Wilma lived on the Weness family farm south of Adams until 1978, when they retired to a home in Adams.

Wilma is well-known around Adams for the many wedding, graduation, and confirmation cakes that she used to bake and decorate, and from her 18 years working as a cashier at Wagner's grocery store. She is active in church activities through the Women of the ELCA, her Circle, and with quilting. Wilma is also an active member of the Adams Health Care Auxiliary, the Friends and Fellowship group, and of the Jolly Dozen Card Club. Her family best knows her for her great love of family, and for love of baking and cooking for family gatherings. The thought of her brings to mind the wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread and sweet rolls. Her family marvels at her generosity to others, and honors her for the many hours of volunteering and leadership that she has always offered.

She has 5 children: Karen and Richard Doughan of Des Moines, IA; Shirley and Randy Sammons, of Atlanta, GA; Gary and Angie Weness of Almelund, MN; BJ and Laura Weness of Blue Earth, MN; and Mark and Cheryl Weness of Adams.
