Elmer "Edd" Brownfield, 78, of Maud, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Shawnee.

He was born June 2, 1935 to Joe and Alta Mae Brownfield in Choctaw County, [Oklahoma.]

Edd attended school at Crowder Springs Elementary and Boswell High School.

He lived in Lefors, Texas until moving to Oklahoma in 1998, settling in Maud, Oklahoma where he has resided for the past 15 years.

Edd married Patsy Lee Smith on April 24, 1954 in Boswell, Oklahoma.

Edd owned and operated Edds Engine Service for 45 years. He holds a patent for a shut-off oil & gas safety valve. Edd was an inventor of many things during his lifetime. In the 1950's he worked on the B-52's at Convair in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Edd was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pampa, Texas. Family meant everything to him. Edd enjoyed gardening, making stain glass and scuba diving and was extremely generous and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandmother, Frances Thomas who adopted him and his sister when their parents died.

Edd is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Patsy "Pat" Brownfield, of the home; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Bob Klein, of Keller, Texas and Karen and Dwight Keith, of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandson, Kyle Keith, of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughter, Kaylee Keith, of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Wanda Mae Young, of Keene, Texas; brother-in-law, Lynn Smith, of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry States and Elder Vic Adams of Shawnee Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
