Eve Lee Robertson Maines was born on Aug. 21, 1926, in Fayette County, AL to the late Robert Lee and Dessie Mae McCool Robertson. She graduated from Hammond, LA High School with the class of 1941 and Tulane University in 1950 with a M.D. in Radiology. While at Tulane, she was voted the honor of "Young Woman of America." Dr. Maines was also honored by receiving the "Alabama Senior Citizen Award" from Baylor University. She married Otis Lovell Maines on May 15, 1971, in Marshall, TX and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1994. In 2005, she moved from Longview to Ocean Springs. While in Longview, Dr. Maines was a member of the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church in East Mountain and the Pilot's Club in Kilgore. In addition to her parents and husband, Dr. Maines was also preceded in death by one daughter, Iris Rae Foster; one brother, Johnny B. Robertson; and three brothers-in-law, Ray Goodman, Kenneth Tallant, and Andre' LeBeau.
Dr. Maines is survived by three sons, James Eugene Foster of Overton, TX, Terry Bruce Foster and wife Sheila of Gilmer, and Steve Foster and wife Louise of Lakeport; two daughters, Patsy Foster Speaks and husband Ron of Gautier, MS and Joan Foster Stanley and husband Terry of Tyler; two brothers, Charles Robertson and wife Joanne of Bay City, TX and Bob Robertson and wife Allison of Kiln, MS; three sisters, Grace Goodman Lebanon, TN, Sara Nell LeBeau of Cherry Point, NC, and Ivalene Tallant of Aberdeen, MS; one sister-in-law, Colleen Robertson of Detroit, AL; and 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
