Funeral services for Walter John Warner, 59, of Walcott, will be 10:30 am on Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott. Burial will follow at Walcott Cemetery, Walcott. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, and Friday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Church in Walcott.

John passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport.

Walter John Warner was born on December 10, 1954 in Davenport, the son of Melvin and Betty (Tubbs) Warner. He married Brenda Reese on March 31, 1979 at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott. He worked at Kraft foods as a mechanic for 20 yrs, and had farmed part-time in Walcott for the last 27 years. John served as President for the Lion's Club, Walcott.

John and Brenda's daughter, Shelly, passed away January 16, 2005, since then, John was committed to making people aware of the cause of Preeclampsia. A new foundation, "The Shelly Bridgewater Dreams Foundation" has been started in his daughter's name, because of all John's efforts.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Walcott, daughter Kimberly (James) Knapper of Walcott, his mother Betty Warner of, Davenport, grandchildren; Hailey, Ella, Ben, Lily, Eli, brother; Ron (Jean) Warner of Davenport, sisters; Linda Johnson, Mary (Gregory) Mann, Lori (Richard) Moughler, Barbara (Robert) Poell, all of Davenport, son-in-law Brad and his wife, Michelle of Iowa Falls, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, and daughter, Shelly Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shelly Bridgewater Dreams Foundation or the family.
