James Gilbert Sitton

Services for Mr. James Gilbert Sitton, age 84, of Lindale, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014, in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Stribble officiating. Interment will follow in the Sitton Family Cemetery in Lindale. Mr. Sitton passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at his home. He was born on December 4, 1929 in Union Point, west of Lindale, to James "Jamie" George and Mittie Estelle Gilbert Sitton and was a lifelong resident of the Smith County and Lindale area. Mr. Sitton was a member of the Lindale First Baptist Church. He was a farmer and rancher growing roses and blackberries and was still an active cattleman. In 1997, Mr. Sitton received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Rose Research Foundation. He was known as "Giggy" to his grandchildren who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mittie Sitton.

Mr. Sitton is survived by his Wife: Mrs. Ruby Hopkins Sitton of Lindale; Son & Daughter-In-Law: Michael James and Marisa Sitton of Lindale; Daughter and Son-In-Law: Shauna and Shannon Preston of Lindale; Grandchildren: Mandy Michelle Sitton of Gresham and Shaun Preston of Lindale; Great Grand Son: Braxton Bogue of Gresham; Sister: Barbara Lott of Lindale. Serviing as pallbearers are Evan Howell, Curtis Collins, Will Jenkins, Joey Taylor, Jimmy Fleming and James Stovall. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Stanley, Bill Oney, Mike Nelson, Tony Lott and Buddy Hicks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lottie Moon Missions in care of Lindale First Baptist (PO Box 321, Lindale, TX 75771) or Boys Town (PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010). Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time on Thursday at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
