BLACKVILLE - Services for Loren Frank Dixon, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Blackville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Summers officiating. Burial will be in Blackville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Memorials may be made to the Blackville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 371 or to the Blackville Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817.
Mr. Dixon died Thursday, February 8, 2001 in the Lexington Medical Center. Born in Hazelhurst, Ga., he was a son of the late Wiley T. and Lessie Mobley Dixon. He retired after 20 years service with the U.S. Army, having served in World War II and the Vietnam War. He retired from civil service at Fort Jackson, attended Cayce United Methodist Church and was a member of the Blackville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Pat B. Coggin Post #91 in Blackville and the Golden Friendship Club, Columbia.
Surviving are his wife, Cornelia C. Dixon, of the home; daughter, Bettie Gomez, Fort Myers, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Teen and Jimmy Conway, Fort Myers, Marilyn and Bill Mathews, Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Alison Holliday, Irmo; sisters, Pearl Livingston, Jacksonville, Fla., Elizabeth Rowell, Hazelhurst, Ga.; brothers, Barnie Dixon, Jacksonville, Cecil Dixon, Casselberry, Fla.; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jay W. Dixon.
