Lawyer, politician, real estate mogul. Age approximately 48 years at time of death.
Judging by newspaper reports of the time, Mr. Bowman was a very colorful lawyer who engaged in "fisticuffs" in the courtroom, challenged others to duels, etc. He was disbarred for 2 years and then reinstated.
Many of his tribulations were due to his financial interest in the St. Louis Times and disagreements with the Bar Association and state legislature.
Father: Jonas Bowman who died 11-21-1855 in Barnard, Vermont.
Note: newspaper article (taken from "Sedalia Wkly Bazoo" 10-29-1889) about Frank's death incorrectly describes him as son of East St. Louis Mayor Bowman.
Mother: Sabra "Phillips" Bowman
Wives:
1st - Mary V, married June 1867 and divorced June 1886. They had one daughter, Florence
2nd - Stella Pratt, married 1887 until his death.
3rd - There was a "common-law" wife by the name of Ida M Clement who sued him in court for divorce and alimony. They were together sporadically from 1880 to 1886 and had 2 children.
-------------------
Per Find A Grave contributor Connie Nisinger: Frank is buried between Sabra and Frank J. Bowman Jr. The grave is unmarked. It's seemingly possible that Frank Jr is his son, but I have been unable to verify.
--------------------
Note: Date of death is listed as 10-28-1889 in the "Sedelia Wkly" newspaper, however an edit was sent to me that he died on 10-21-1889. Bellefontaine Cemetery shows him being buried on 10-23-1889.

Contributor Piney Trail kindly sent a link to a detailed article about Mr. Bowman's death. For those wishing to read it, it can be found in the Library of Congress' website: Chronicling America. Search for Marysville, KY's "Evening Bulletin's" front page, Oct 22, 1889. A later issue of the same paper (June 13, 1890) speaks of his last will and probate.
