Willis, 74, was born to Willis N. DeBerard and Ella V. (Carlson) DeBerard and attended school in Grandby, Colorado. He married Rosemary DeJoy on October 22, 1977 in Brighton. Willis was a longtime Brighton resident. He worked for the Rocky Mountain Arsenal as a security guard for 35 years until his retirement in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Brighton Police Reserves for 15 years. Willis was an avid elk and deer hunter and enjoying the sport with his close friends. He loved to tell corny jokes. He was quite an unassuming gentleman and a man who worked hard to raise his family.

Willis was survived by his wife; daughters Phylleen (Steve) Wolf of Brighton and Sarelle (Jim) Forbes of Thornton; son, Mike (Rox) Thurlow of Lakeville, MN; brothers Art (Jan) DeBerard of Logandale, NV and Ken (Mary) DeBerard of Grand Junction, CO; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial Contributions made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2480 W. 26th Avenue, Suite 120B, Denver, CO.
