Ted "T.J." Randall, 87, of Rockdale, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014, in Round Rock. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale with Pastor Ed Truelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Military Honors.
Ted was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late James and Vesta Randall. Ted served in the U.S. Navy in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He married Joan Sandvold on March 20, 1949 in Roland, Iowa. Ted was a life long member of VFW and was also a member of Rotary and Lions Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and woodworker. Ted worked for Alcoa as a INGOT Supervisor and worked several overseas assignments in Norway, Wales, Hong Kong, and Surnam. Ted and Joan moved to Point Comfort, Texas, in 1950 to Delphi, Indiana, in 1965, to Maryville, Tennessee, in 1969, and finally to Rockdale, Texas, in 1969, where they lived for 42 years. Ted retired from Alcoa in 1988.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Randall; sons, Steve James Randall and Douglas Eric Randall; sister, Wilma Ruth Spungin; and grandchildren, Jaime Randall and Bryan Scarborough Randall.
Ted is survived by sons, Scott Juel Randall, of Rockdale, and Daniel Lee Randall, of Tomball; daughter, Becky Randall Haupt, of Rockdale; grandchildren: Nick and Kelsy Randall, Christopher, Jeremy and Daniel Haupt, AnnaMarie and Ashley Randall, Carrie and Melissa Randall, and Cameron, Katzy and Kylie Randall; great-grandchildren: Shelbi Haupt, Gaven Umbaugh and Lawson Randall; and sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Sandvold, of Roland, IA, and Lois Sanvold, of Nevada, IA.
