WILLIE C. JOHNSTON
Willie C. Johnston, 77, who lived east of Cairo, died at 4 a.m. today in Maple Lawn Lodge where he had been one week. Mr. Johnston had been in failing health some time and seriously ill since September.
Born in Monroe County on Oct. 10, 1898, he was a son of Robert and Tippie Lambert Johnston. A retired farmer, he had lived in the Cairo area most of his life.
Surviving are one son, Alfred, Moberly; four brothers, Griffie and Stanley, Moberly; Ernest, Shelbyville, and Greg of Ruth Ben, Iowa; one grandson and one great-granddaughter. His wife, Grace, died April 29, 1974, and a daughter, Mrs. Nelsie Sims, died Nov. 16, 1970.
The body is at Cater Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Earl Ferguson of the Cairo-Jacksonville Pastorial Unity will be in charge. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
