4.5 Gilleya ‘Gilley’ Hill, daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Wright) Hill, was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, Sept. 29, 1819 (twin of Jesse Hill). [She] moved with parents to Putnam Co., Indiana by 1838 or before, and there was married by Nathan Buchanan, M.G. [Minister of the Gospel], on Feb. 11, 1836, to Isaac H. Adams, who was born in Kentucky in 1816 or 1817, the son of Jack Adams. Isaac Adams died at Centerville, Iowa Dec. 22, 1885, in the seventieth year of his age. Gilly and Isaac leived near Greencastle, Indiana for some years then moved to Appanoose Co., Iowa in 1852 and settled north of Cincinnati, Iowa. He resided there until he moved to Centerville in 1879. Gilleya Hill Adams died a few years after coming to Iowa and was one of the first to be buried in Motto Cemetery, southeast of Numa, Iowa. Her stone says: Gilleya, wife of Isaac Adams, born Sep 29, 1819, died Jan. 15, 1855 the dau of T & S Hill.

Isaac Adams remarried after Gilleya’s death and left a widow and six children in Centerville at the time of his death, besides four living from Gilleya.

Children of Isaac and Gilleya (Hill) Adams are:

5-1 S. R. [I believe this is correct; source doc extremely light] Adams (male) about 1837 or 1838, according to Iowa census. He was living in Missouri when his father died.

5-2 Lucinda Adams, born May 1, 1839; died Dec. 1896. She married William F. Hare, born Nov. 12, 1840; died Mar 3, 1905. Buried in Wright Cemetery about 2 miles southeast of Centerville, Iowa.

5-3 Sarah R. Adams, born Oct 6, 1841, died Dec. 19 1895. She married Charles Stevens at Centerville, Iowa, Aug [?] 1860. He was born 1840. Appanoose County History published 1878 by Western Historical Co., “Chas. Stephens enlisted Feb. 22, 1862 and died of wounds received from guerrillas in Arkansas.” Family says it was in the summer of 1862. They had 1 child, Aaron Charles Stevens, born Sept. 28, 1861; died Dec. 7, 1937, near woodland Calif.
