M. D. "Don" Fletcher, 85, of Pampa, passed from this earth on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Pampa.

Services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ with Glen Walton, minister of San Jacinto Church of Christ in Amarillo, and Keith Feerer, minister of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Dodd City Cemetery in Dodd City. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Fletcher was born March 13, 1928 in Fannin County to Marvin and Jessie Fletcher in a family of 12. He was a 1946 graduate of Dodd City High School and received a bachelor's degree in agriculture education from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville in 1950. Don married Betty Jean McGrew on March 10, 1949 in Huntsville. He worked for Sun Oil Co. in south Texas and Pampa for 23 years, and he had been a resident of Pampa since 1965. He was an independent oilman in the Pampa area as well as a rancher in McLean. As a younger man, Don was active in Boy Scouts, Sunday school teaching, bowling, and he was an avid outdoorsman.

Don was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ and was a trustee of Lubbock Christian University for 34 years. He was a generous contributor to High Plains Children's Home, Clarendon College, Lubbock Christian University, foreign missionary programs in Africa, and the Emergency Services Foundation of Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Fletcher, of the home; five children, Reagan Fletcher of Dodd City, Deborah Fletcher Stout and husband Don of Royse City, Niki Fletcher Magdelinic of Cape Coral, Florida, Alan Fletcher and wife Parla of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Jeff Fletcher and wife Karen of Lubbock; two brothers, Bill Fletcher and wife Jackie of Angleton, and Charles Fletcher of Heath; a sister, Betty Perry of Fort Worth; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Plains Children's Home, P. O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114 or Lubbock Christian University, 5601 19th St., Lubbock, TX 79407.
