Brother Carl Monroe Byrd, age 65, of North Wilkesboro, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1948 in Wilkes County to Reese and Cora Jane Blevins Byrd. He was a member and bishop of Gospel Light Ministries. Brother Byrd was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Adkins Byrd of the home; two sons, Timothy Carl Byrd, Scott Dewayne Byrd both of North Wilkesboro; three brothers, Roy Curtis Byrd of Arizona, twin, Earl Philmore Byrd of Hays, Ronnie Paul Byrd of Ronda; one sister, Edna Billings of Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Nathan Byrd, Stephanie Byrd, Breanna Church, Kala Byrd, Dameon Byrd; and one great grandchild, Levi Byrd.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 o'clock Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Owings officiating. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock on Tuesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
