Bernard Lee Garrett, 78, of Taylorville died at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in St. John's Hospital.

He was born February 15, 1924, in Midland, South Dakota, the son of Orris and Della J. Waterman Garrett. He married Ruth Harmon on June 23, 1946, in Morrisonville. He was a retired farmer, moving to Taylorville from the farm in 1986. He was a member of Taylorville VFW and Morrisonville American Legion. He was a former member of the Morrisonville School Board. He served in the Pacific in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II.

Surviving are his wife; sons: Darrell (wife Lisbeth) Garrett of Harvel and William (wife Pat) Garrett of Owaneco; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ida (husband Nelvin) Sloman of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Etta Mae Fowler; and brothers: Paul and Pier Garrett.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Rev. James Wolfe officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in Sutton Memorial Home.
