Carolyn Orrell succumbed to her spirited life on February 15 , 2014. Services will be held at Brusie Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Born to Jack and Jean Lutz, September 26, 1955, in Chico, Carolyn grew up in Durham, California.

She led an adventurous life, but her main thrust in life was learning. An avid reader on many topics, led her to involvement mostly in education with multiple ages. An honors English student from Chico State, she went on to teach. Upon marrying Darrell Orrell, she moved to New Orleans where she taught in the school system there. Returning to California, she taught in Ventura and later in Biggs at the junior high level. Educational trips involving the history and cultural aspects of other nations was an experience that Carolyn offered to her students. Later she joined the Peace Corps with an assignment in Tonga with students and in helping train new recruits to the program.

Back to the states with stops in Hawaii and Oregon, led to Chico where she worked for Chico Unified School District as a substitute teacher. The last few years were individual assignments with medically needy students. This she enjoyed as she worked on meeting their medical and emotional needs.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Sean (Heather) Orrell of The US Army, El Paso, TX., father Jack (Barbara) Lutz of Chico, sisters Brenda (Charles) Smith of Chico, June (Clyde) Brock of Central Point, Oregon, and Peggy Goodwin of San Jose. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Donations maybe made to your favorite charity or to Enloe Hospital with special consideration to the Pulmonary Units and Enloe Hospice.
