Born in Westminster, S.C. on September 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clifton O'Neal and Lexie Dyar Singleton. Her grandparents were the late James F. and Della Pickens Singleton, and the late Andrew and Sarah Dyar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ralph Reynolds,a graduated of North Carolina State University and a native of Patrick County, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Singleton Clyburn, a native of Westminster S.C. and resident of Lancaster, M.T. as well as a brother-in-law, M.T. Bloxom of Smithfield, Virginia, and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by a sister, Sue Singleton Bloxom, of Smithfield, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Max Clyburn of Lancaster, S.C.; a nephew, Robert M. Clyburn, his wife Mary, and their children, Grayson, Evie and Hayes, all of Broadlands, Virginia, and one special family, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Jenkins and their sons, Stuart, and Blain, all of Charlotte, N.C.
Mrs. Reynolds graduated from Westminster High School in 1952. She was also a graduate of Winthrop Collage and the University of Maryland at Collage Park, Maryland.
She was an employed of the Charlotte, Mecklenburg School System from 1956 until her retirement. She served as the librarian at many elementary schools and at Myers Park High School.
She was an avid reader and wordsmith all of her life. She especially enjoyed mysteries and biographies. She spent many happy hours gardening and knew the botanical names of most flowers and shrubs.
The family wishes to acknowledge the special care provided by Weldon Huske, Matt Guy, Mary Streeter and Tracy McGee.
A memorial service was held at Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, S.C., on Thursday January 2,2014 at 11:00a.m. Burial was at later date in the Singleton family plot at Nazareth Methodist Church, Westminster, S.C.
