Julie Ann Riley, 44, died Feb. 28, 2008, at home in Anchorage. A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Friday. Those who wish to attend may e-mail [email protected] for further information and directions. Julie was born Sept. 9, 1963, in San Diego. She graduated from high school in Farmington, N.M. Julie began her career with the State of Alaska in 1985. She had worked for the Department of Labor, among other jobs. At the time of her death, she was with Alaska Housing and Finance Corp. "She loved photography and spent countless hours taking pictures of all of her grandchildren and has left a legacy of photographic memories," her family recalled. "A very friendly person, Julie was loved by those who knew her. She fell in love with Alaska as soon as she arrived and loved all outdoor activities. She was an avid biker, using this means of transportation any time weather permitted. Julie was an accomplished bead jewelry maker and a perfectionist when it came to her hobbies. "Julie was a special part of Noah and Klhoe's lives and when she came into the room their eyes would light up. They adored her and miss her terribly. Play dates with 'GG' were special. Her fun-loving personality and quick smile are just a few of the things we will miss." Julie is survived by her children, Kristi Laughin-Hall and her husband, Brian; son, Andrew Laughlin; grandchildren, Kaylen, Kelsey and Nate Hall, and Noah and Khloe Laughlin-Hall; mother, Patricia Riley; and brother, Larry Riley. Instead of flowers, contributions to a memorial fund set up in her name at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, account 1376197 would be accepted.
