Donna Lou (nee Thacker) Watkins, 76, of Taylorville, IL, formerly of Waggoner, IL, passed away at 11:58 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 28, 1937 in Shelby County; the daughter of Clyde Graham Thacker and Myrtle Elizabeth McKee. She married John Larkin Watkins in Springfield, TN on September 15, 1956; he preceded her in passing April 6, 1994. She was an under writer for Horace Mann Insurance and Victorious Ministry Through Christ for 11 years as US Central Coordinator. Donna was on staff at Loving Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center and was retired from Horace Mann Insurance. She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church.
She is survived by her sons: Tony Lynn (Kim) Watkins of Springfield, IL and Billy Lee Watkins of Morrisonville, IL; daughters, Linda Lorraine Ash of Wentzville, MO and Joyce LeJean Bandy and companion Mark Clevenger of Raymond; daughter-in-law, Amy Watkins of Rushville, IL; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Robert (Margaret) Thacker of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters: Shirley (Johnny) Young, Lorrie Nation, Sandra (Jim) Gibson, all of Taylorville, and sister-in-law, Cleo Thacker of Taylorville; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, son, David Watkins and brother, Richard Thacker.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville, IL. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Waggoner, IL. Rev. Dick Wamsley will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, February 17 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Taylorville Christian Church.
