Margaret Hammonds Noles was one of five children born to her parents, Henry Thomas and Mary Beatrice Dorsey on December 7, 1030 in Atlanta Georgia.

She was educated in the Georgia school system, completing the seventh grade. At the age of seventeen she married William A, Hammonds. To this union six children were born, Willie Lee, Jacqueline, William, Veronica, Jerome and Bernard. She later had another son Craig Harris.

After Moving to California in 1964, Margret united with the Second Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Oakland under the leadership of Pastor Frankie Lee Edwards. Later, under the leadership of Pastor Charles F. Thomas, Margaret said she truly came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, and she was baptized.

To support her family as a single parent she took on various jobs such as housekeeping. In 1971, she attended the East Bay Skills Center in Oakland, where she earned her GED. Margaret then worked for the San Francisco Eye Institute as an assistant to Dr. William Beal, who performed cataract surgeries. From 1983 to 1986 she worked as a licensed day care provider, and also provided In-Home-Care for Saint Paul Towers.

Margaret was very active participating as Second Vice President for the Nurse's Guild for the Saint John Missionary Baptist Association. She loved to sing and was part of the church choir. People often compared er voice to that of Mahalia Jackson. She enjoyed sewing and upholstery, often re-covering furniture for friends and family.

Margaret was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings, both husbands, and her children; Willie Lee, William, Veronica, Bernard, and Thomas Jr., her grandson.

Margaret was affectionately know as "GGma" to her children and grandchildren and her favorite song was by the late Rev. James Cleveland; "Give me My Flowers."

Margaret leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Jacqueline Hammonds, two sons; Jerome Hammonds and Craig Harris (Michelle); nine grandchildren,; Angela, Veronica, Samantha, Darrell (Makiva), Philip (Katrina), Denise, Shiriya, Ciera; Ten great-grandchildren; Mario, Samuel, Lance, Chelsea, Ashley, Corrin, Darrell Jr., Ayanna, Alisa, Philip Jr,. Robert Morrison; and two Great Grandchildren; Eric, Audrey. Her memories will also be cherished by her friends ad her Mount Zion Baptist Church Family.
