Gavina Valdéz, age 92, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital.
Gavina was born on July 7, 1921 in San Ignacio, NM to her parents the late Antonio and Lucia Roybal.
Gavin was a Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM.
Gavina is preceded in death by her son, Joe Roybal, granddaughter, Barbara Fernández, brother, Martín Roybal and sister, Simonita Gallegos.
Gavina is survived by her son, Antonio Roybal, grandson, Martín Roybal, granddaughter, Catherine Roybal and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Jaramillo.
Rosary service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Rogers Chapel at 7:00 p.m., 600 Reynolds Las Vegas, NM. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Serving as Pallbears will be Juan Jarramillo, Jacob Jaramillo, Vicente Jaramillo, Ray Baca, Larry Bell and Herman Herrera. Interment will take place at San Antonio Cemetery in Upper Town Las Vegas, NM.
