Danny Marshall Gordon, 70, of Corsicana, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, at his home following a brief illness. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend John Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery
Danny was born in Corsicana, Texas, to the late John Samuel and Carrie Jergins Gordon. Raised in Corsicana, Danny graduated from high school in 1962 and Texas A&M University class of 1966. Danny served as an U.S. Army Ranger, completing tours in both Germany and Vietnam where he earned the rank of Captain and a Bronze Star. After his Army career, he worked in the oilfield services business in Houston and New Orleans. He then moved back to Corsicana where he opened up his own CPA office and bought a farm pursuing what he truly enjoyed, accounting and raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Edward Gordon; sisters, Wanda Gordon Brashear and husband, Wesley Brashear, and Bonnie Gordon Mathison.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Wood Gordon; son, Andrew Wood Gordon and wife, Leslie; grandchildren: Daphne Ann, Jonathan Edward, Alexandria Jane, and Emma Lynn Gordon; brother, John Samuel Gordon and wife, Margie; sister, Kathy Gordon Paschal and husband, Joe; brothers-in-law, Lewis Mathison, and Jim Wood and wife, Amelia; and sister-in-law Dorothy Wood Rutledge; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
