Enlisted, February 20, 1911, in the Medical Detachment, Squadron A Cavalry, New York City. Discharged from Squadron A, Jan 12, 1912.

World War 1, served with the American Field Service, July 1916 - September 1916, France.

Commissioned 1stLieutenant, Medical Corps, April 26, 1917, stationed at Fort Jay, NY. Deployed to France, May 14, 1917, with U. S. Base Hospital # 2 and attached to the B. E. F. till May 1918, transferred to Mobile Hospital # 2. He was promoted Captain August of 1918. Serving in the Army of Occupation in Germany till, February 1919, when the Mobile Hospital # 2 returned to the States. Discharged, February 13, 1919.
