A veteran of the US Army, he served his country for four years in Munich, Germany. Upon his discharge he was a auto mechanic for many years. He was an avid fisherman, loved working puzzles, listening to 50's and 60's music, loved letting his kids beat him in chess, playing pool and bowling.He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the National Rifle Association. On Dec 26, 1959 he married Alice Crenshaw in Hutchinson, KS. Even though they later divorced they remained lifelong friends. At time of death he had 11 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
