Joseph Willard was born at Lancaster about 1686, son of Henry Willard (1655-1701) and Mary Lakin. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Blood) Tarbell, who was born at Groton on August 19, 1691. He was a town officer at Harvard; he died July 30, 1761; she died December 23, 1763. Children:

(1) William, bapt. May 24, 1713; married Ellen Davis; a town clerk of Harvard many years.

(2) Sarah, bapt. May 22, 1715; married Nov. 29, 1732 Eleazer Davis.

(3) Elizabeth, bapt. Nov 3, 1717; died unmarried.

(4) Tarbell, bapt. Nov. 1, 1719; married Rachel Haskell.

(5) Sybil, bapt. Feb. 17, 1722-3; married May 10, 1744 to Samuel Haskell; she died about 1800.

(5) Lemuel, born July 28, 1725; married Hannah Haskell; deacon of the Harvard church; died October, 1775.

(6) Joseph, born May 17, 1728; married Elizabeth Hapgood; he died September 12, 1812.

(7) Amee, born Dec. 25, 1730; married Nov. 16, 1749, Samuel Hazeltine.

(8) Charles, born Aug. 30, 1734; married Sarah Scolly; lived at Fitchburg.
