E. J. Smith Funeral to Be Thursday
SUNSET -- Funeral services for Edmond Joseph Smith, 79, prominent Sunset resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Smith died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired farmer and sweet potato shipper.
His body is at Lafond and son Funeral home in Opelousas, where the rosary will be recited at 8 tonight.
SMITH is survived by his widow, the former Alice Savoy of Sunset; four sons, L. M. Smith of Rosenberg, Tex., Matthew, Marion and Charles Smith, all of Sunset; and one daughter, Mrs. Milton Richard of Sunset.
Also surviving are one sister Miss Lillie Smith of Sunset, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
