Noel Alvin Jones, 66, of Sawyers Creek, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at his residence.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Roy and Swannie Arizona Mills Jones.

He was a member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church in Sylva. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Wilkes, Alta Belle Cogdill; and three brothers, John Ray, Guy and Annas Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Donna Sawyer Jones; children Jacob Sawyer Lewis, Crystal Cochran and husband Justin; Grandchildren Stahle Wyatt, Blake Wright, Olivia Lewis, Kayli Lewis, Paige Wright; sisters Billie Jo Buchanan and husband Ed, and Mary Hill. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Stecoah Baptist Church. Rev. G.D. Phillips, J.D. Grant, and Earl Holden will officiate with burial in the Sawyers Creek Cemetery.
