A resident of Gonzales, she died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Columbia Riverview Medical Center, Gonzales. She was 80 and a native of Gonzales. Visiting was held at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel 8 a.m. Monday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Herculon DeMaria and Brother Francis Froisy. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Harold "Windy" Wendler, Atlanta, and Rose Marie and Kevin Frommelt, Cordova, Tenn.; a son, John Schexnaydre, Austin, Texas; a sister, Inez Forsythe, Gonzales; a brother, Roy Bercegeay, Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Karen Honcik, Cotonya Schexnaydre, David Wendler, Jamie and Michael Frommelt. Preceded in death by husband, Joseph Simon Schexnaydre; parents, Adam and Olive Young Bercegeay; three brothers, Linden Sr., Felician and Wilson Bercegeay; and two sisters, Verlie Prejean and Linda Ory. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church
