William C. Moreland died 23 Jun 1901, at his home on Lincoln Street in Anna, aged 55 years, and was buried in Anna Cemetery. He was born in Tennessee and came to Union County with his parents when quite small and settled on a farm in the bottoms. He has been a resident of Anna 25 years. He was admitted to the bar in 1867, was state's attorney and twice elected Anna city attorney, and was president of the board of education. He married Miss Baybee, but she died in 1874, leaving an infant son, Clarence Moreland, who now resides in Louisville, Ky. He married 2nd Matilda Rich, who survives.
