Company C, 2nd Virginia Infantry, Local Defense Troops, G.W.C. Lee's Division, Dept. of Richmond, C.S.A.

A conscript, he was detailed to and mustered into Company C, 2nd Infantry (Quartermaster) Battalion Local Defense Troops as a Private on 7/28/1863 at Manchester, VA. Upon its consolidation into 2nd Regiment, this Company was redesignated Company E.

Spinner; married to Isabella, lived at 1710 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Va., in 1892, then on Main Street near 19th in 1910.
Father of John W. Allison, Jr., spinner; of William, cutter; both living with their parents at both locations; of Emmett Lee, a Fredericksburg shoe cutter; and Howard E., who moved to Birmingham, AL.

The 2nd Virginia Infantry Regiment Local Defense Troops was formed by the consolidation of the 2nd and 6th Infantry Battalions Local Defense Troops in September, 1864. It was assigned to General G.W.C. Lee's Brigade in the Department of Richmond. Most of the men were captured at Sayler's Creek during the Appomattox Campaign.
