Mrs. Hardy passed away December 25, 2019 in Athens.
Doris Johnson Hardy was born June 3, 1926 in Artesia, New Mexico, the daughter of Captain Spencer Johnson and Ethel (Alexander) Johnson. She has been a member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1994. Doris worked as a data input specialist in the geophysics department for Texas Instruments from the late 60's until the mid 80's and then began working for Target in the purchasing department until her retirement in the early 90's. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, playing cards with friends and absolutely loved being surrounded by family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Captain and Ethel Johnson; husband, Dan Elliot Hardy; son, Phillip Clayton Newell; and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include children, Richard Newell and wife Rosie of Presidio, Steven Newell of Ben Wheeler, Kim Hardy of Seattle, Washington; special friends, Larry and Cindie Larragueta of Eustace; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Larragueta, Ed Mooney, Steve Pryor, Steve Krumholz, Mark Leathers and Randy Jones.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
