The funeral for George B. "Judd" Weiss will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Crane Community Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Joe Matt officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 91.
Mr. Weiss, 89, of 908 10th Ave. S.E., a retired Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died Wednesday (July 24, 1996) at Austin Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 3, 1907, in Rose Creek. On May 13, 1961, he married Virginia Bell Anderson at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. Mr. Weiss was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Benjamin of Virginia, Minn., and Peter of Austin; two stepsons, Richard Anderson and Robert Anderson, both of Fremont, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a brother, John of Springfield, Minn.; and a sister, Frances Bobbitt of Lorida, Fla. He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
